The difference between market squid and fresh squid from fishing boats
Has anyone ever wondered why the squid in the market has a beautiful white color?
What steps does the squid have to go through before reaching the consumer, let’s see.
There are many types of squid fishing. If the squid were used by trawling, they would be frozen in buckets of ice to be brought ashore to be sold to merchants. Those squids will be sent to the squid peeling center. Therefore, this process takes a long time. Salt is also needed to keep the squid fresh for several days.
The next step after peeling the squid is washing and salting it and then transporting it to different locations. It may take a long time. To maintain the ink for a long time, salt has to be added which affects the white color. When taking them to eat, we have to wash off the saltiness.
Next, let’s see what exactly is fresh squid from fishing boats?
fresh squid from fishing boats are mostly still alive. It will be shiny then not through fresh water, chemical immersion or salt. However, if someone loses, they will itch. It is a processed squid but fresh squid from fishing boats are not processed at all. They are sweet and not fishy. There are splendid squid, Bigfin reef squid, Cuttlefish, octopus, etc.
Fresh-keeping transportation is packed into bags, one at a time, and frozen at negative temperatures without undergoing fresh water fermentation. We can observe the freshness of the transparent white body and it will be different from normal squid in the market. It can be eaten as sashimi. It will be fresh, sweet and not fishy. Who doesn’t like sashimi, it can be cooked as it tastes equally delicious.
